We try and explain the small things that mean so much.
What is a micron?
Micron is a measurement of length most frequently used to describe teeny tiny particle sizes. The term micron is shorthand for micrometre, μm or um. A micron is defined as one-millionth of a meter, a little more than one twenty-five thousandth of an inch.
So What Does Mesh Size Mean?
Mesh Size usually refers to the mesh number (a US measurement standard) and its relationship to the size of the openings in the mesh and therefore will tell you the size of the tiny particles that can pass through the holes. Mesh number is simple, count the number of openings in one linear inch of screen. The higher number of holes in a square inch, the finer the mesh, the finer the powder and particles allowed to pass through.
